The Radio: Will You Shape Or Be Shaped?

Our world is shapeshifting - it is time we play our part in shaping what comes next.

We are in the midst of a perfect storm that is rocking our world. This is not business as usual anymore. And, we need to start navigating from where we are and where we actually want to go - rather than where we wish we were.

The way I see it is this. We are already in the middle of the ocean. The perfect storm is here - through the combination of the sustainability crisis, AI disruption, and the upheaval of the world order.

Yet for the most part, we are still behaving as if we are safely moored in port. We carry on as if incremental tweaks will be enough, when in reality, the tools we currently have simply aren’t fit for purpose anymore. And we risk missing an important opportunity.

Whether we like it or not, this is a system shift - and the only real choice is whether we let ourselves be shaped by it or step up to shape what comes next.

This moment isn’t just about plugging gaps or managing short-term crises. It is about recognising that the very foundations of our systems are shapeshifting. And we get to decide the future we want to see.

Because while endings are unavoidable, there is also real hope here. The fact that the old is collapsing means there is now space to build new better things. The uncomfortable reality being that our existing foundations were not designed for true long lasting thriving - of people, planet, or ourselves.

That is where the opportunity lives. Rather than chasing the next shiny object or getting stuck in overwhelm, what is really needed now is a conscious choice: to hold this systemic transition in a way that activates new possibilities, new leadership, and new creation ecosystems that can bring about the future we actually want.

But that will not happen by default. It requires each of us to find our own potentiality within this context, to step into a new level of leadership, and to help shape solid foundations for genuine flourishing - within ourselves, with each other, and with the planet itself.

  1. “We are already in the middle of the ocean - navigating a storm with hundred-foot waves - whether we like it or not.”

  2. “The tools we currently have are not the ones that will get us through; this isn’t about incremental tweaks, it’s a system shift.”

  3. “Either we let ourselves be shaped by the forces disrupting life as we know it, or we step up as active participants in shaping what comes next.”

  4. “The world as we have known it is collapsing. We get to decide whether there are new beginnings - and if so, what those new beginnings are.”

  5. “This is no longer about plugging the gaps of the old system. It’s about asking fundamental questions: what does it truly mean to flourish?”

  6. “We are all in the boats now. Change-making is no longer reserved for the few - we all have to steer.”

  7. “There’s real hope here. When a system is locked in place, it’s hard to evolve it. But now that it’s breaking down, we have the chance to create what’s truly needed.”

  8. “Most people have been trying to have a positive impact by working within the limitations of an old system that was never designed for true wellbeing.”

  9. “The human side of systemic change has to be held and guided - otherwise people get stuck in the change curve, overwhelmed or polarised.”

  10. “We are building the plane as we fly it. The new world isn’t fully created yet - and we each have a role in activating new creation ecosystems wherever we are.
