The Wisdom: Get Out Of The Spin

I am seeing a lot of people and leaders react to all the changes that are going on - rather than respond to them. And the distinction matters.

That is how Big Law for example got itself in a mess around its reaction to the current government’s attacks.

It is also important if you have lost your job or aspects of your work and business. And what you do next.

Reacting means that we are coming from automatic survival mechanisms when faced with a perceived threat. The problem is that doesn't mean it leads to the response that is actually needed. Nor is it going to be the right solution from a leadership perspective - and definitely not from a values-based or integrity angle.

So we need to be very self-aware in terms of how we respond to the current uncertainty and circumstances. So that we can find a response that is actually going to enable us to make the right kind of progress.
